List of Rare and Endangered Species in The Helidon Hills, Gatton and Lockyer
There are many species of animals, birds, reptiles, trees and plants in this area that are very rare, endangered or particularly vunerable. Inappropriate and thoughtless destruction of habitats lead to the fragmentation and eventually loss of these amazing fauna and flora. Vegetation clearing, incorrect timber harvesting, pollution, bushfires, feral animals and development all contribute to destroying food sources, nesting sites and any chance of survival they have.

China might want tonnes and tonnes of sandstone right now, but the mines short term gain from the quarrying of the sandstone at this massive level will be our long term loss, for the environment, for the communities and for the sustainabilty of sandstone extraction for future generations. Once these species are gone nothing can get them back. We must act NOW to have any chance at all of saving them.
